    Patchogue, New York 11772

For the protection of both Eastern Suffolk BOCES and its employees, an employee will not provide transportation for students in his or her private vehicle except in emergencies as described below.
When emergency transportation is needed for a student, the principal, nurse, or other employee shall arrange for the student’s transportation with the administrator responsible for the Regional Transportation Program. The student will then be transported in a bus contractor’s vehicle or an ESBOCES vehicle, both of which are covered by the proper insurance.
Only in rare cases when the above procedure is not able to be followed, ESBOCES administrators or their specified designees may transport students in a private vehicle whenever an ESBOCES vehicle cannot be obtained. Prior to commencing the trip, if conditions permit, the administrator must notify the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services, District Superintendent, or Chief Operating Officer, and must contact the home or facility to which the student is being transported. The driver must be a certified teacher and be licensed to drive a motor vehicle in New York State and possess a clean New York State driver's license.
